Train Passing Conwy Castle

Train Passing Conwy Castle

Virgin Voyager Train Passing Conwy Castle in North Wale; Virgin Trains London to Llandudno Service.

Conwy Castle is one of the most impressive Castles in the whole of the UK. Built for Edward I, by James of St George, the castle is amongst the finest surviving medieval Castles in Britain. From the grandeur of the towers and impressive and imposing walls the castle is in an excellent state of preservation. It is estimated that around £15,000 was spent building the castle, the largest sum Edward spent on any of his Welsh castles built to subdue the welsh people and maintain his control on the land.

Following a wedding near Rhyl in North Wales I traveled up to Conwy to take some photographs of the castle with trains passing it for a 2014 Calendar. The castle makes a wonderful backdrop for photographs of a Virgin Voyager Train.

Unfortunately I could only spend a couple of hours in the town and so I think I will need to return for another day and spend a longer time taking photographs of the area. Although I only managed to take a handful of photographs it shows that it would be worth spending more time in the town with my camera.

The photograph on the left was taken from the top of the town wall as another Virgin Voyager passes the castle on the North Wales Railway Line. There is something of a grandeur about the landscape with this modern train adding a dimension that is reminiscent of some kind of welsh dragon snaking its way through this medieval landscape.

My first wedding photography was when I was 17 years of age. Both the equipment has change over time as has my style and ability. Photography has been a passion for over 30 years. In fact probably over 40 years, but 30 since I purchased my first SLR Camera. It was a Richo XR7 and at the time it was a top of the rage camera. Now I shoot with the Canon 5D Mk ii.
